Thrift Store Score – Grey Pinstripe Suit

I’ve been traveling a LOT recently, so it has made getting pre pictures taken and post pictures taken somewhat difficult. On top of that, I had to get the pants re-adjusted twice, and the blazer three times. The sleeves, even though were to measurement, still weren’t narrow enough. I have a few things at the tailor now, and a item back so posts should be coming more frequently from now on. (and I’m also working on a surprise – stay tuned)

So here’s a few lessons that I’ve learned over the years; these help me to not realize once I get home, that something still doesn’t fit right.

1) wear your dress shoes if you are getting pants altered. That way you can make sure the break is exactly where you want it to be.

2) wear a button up for your lighter jackets, and for the tweeds, maybe wear a sweater too, since in the winter months we tend to layer more. I normally try to wear the same thing to both fittings to ensure proper and consistent fit.

3) I also normally have measuring tape with me, so I can whip it out just to make sure it is to specifications. (I do that at thrift stores to – i know exactly how long I like my blazers, that’s something that is too risky and expensive to change)

This wool suit is of medium weight, perfect for spring, that I purchased at the “Last Chance Thrift Store” near my home. This suit needed the works. Sleeves narrowed and length let out, tapered torso, slimmed pants and hemmed.

Blazer – Bloomberg’s Men Store, Button down – Tommy Hilfiger, Tie – thrift store (no tag), Shoes – Salvatore Ferragamo (scored on eBay)
